Are you still trying to decide what your plans are for this July 4th holiday weekend? In Savannah, there is no shortage of fun things to do. Here are just a few of the ways that you can make the most of celebrating July 4th in Savannah. And as you prepare for the holiday, check out our tips for a successful Fourth of July in Savannah.
Let’s Start with Art
On the first Friday of every month, local organization Art Rise Savannah holds the First Friday Art March. Visitors can enjoy the art galleries, unique boutiques, and cozy cafes that are scattered throughout the Starland District. This event is open to the public, and is a perfect way to enjoy a lovely summer evening in one of Savannah’s most charming and eclectic areas.
I Scream, You Scream…
But why scream for ice cream, when you can pledge for it? Beloved Savannah fixture Leopold’s is kicking off National Ice Cream Month with its “I Pledge Project.” This project awards any child under the age of 12 who can recite the Pledge of Allegiance by Heart with a free ice cream cone. This project begins Friday, July 1st and will continue every Monday for the month of July.
Celebrate the Present and the Future
Show your appreciation for those who serve our country by celebrating at Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart. Enjoy live music from the 3rd Infantry Division Band and stunning fireworks. Or, reflect on the past. Visit Wormsloe Historic Site, Old Fort Jackson, or Tricentennial Park for battle reenactments, canon/musket firings, and more.
Go to the River
No celebration is complete without enjoying Savannah’s riverfront in the Historic District! Enjoy live entertainment and bring your kids out to the “Kids Zone,” which features fun games and activities. And everyone can enjoy drinks, ice cream, shopping and more. As the sun goes down, find a spot along the riverfront to enjoy the show.
Or, if you prefer to be on the water, take a Savannah Riverboat Cruise and spend the 4th in style. There are several cruise packages available, including dinner packages, live entertainment, and front row seats to the fireworks!
