Located in the heart of historic downtown Beaufort.
Saltus River Grill is located in Historic Downtown Beaufort, on Bay Street. Saltus is referred to as “Historic Beaufort’s Seafood Grill” and it’s one of the best places in Beaufort to enjoy seafood in just about any kind of preparation you can imagine. The restaurant space houses a beautifully modern bar and dining area, including large windows that afford the perfect view of the Broad River. For those looking to get a bit closer to nature, Saltus also has an expansive outdoor dining area. This patio is shaded by majestic oaks and features a fire pit, but the effect is still no less refined than indoors. On our last visit to Beaufort, we were lucky enough to enjoy a meal on the patio, and even received coupons thanks to the restaurant’s partnership with The Beaufort Inn.
The menu at Saltus River Grill showcases what is best about dining along the 100 Mile Coast, and that is of course seafood. Saltus has a raw bar offering local shrimp and oysters. And I have to say, that the oysters from Saltus are the best that I have ever had. The oysters were harvested just across the river, from Lady’s Island. Lady’s Island oysters are small and full of rich flavor. We slurped down two dozen with no condiments whatsoever. The sushi menu at Saltus Grill is the perfect way to enjoy fresh fish and seafood without committing to a full meal. For those looking for something a bit more substantial, Saltus offers locally-caught fresh fish and local meats prepared on the wood-fired grill. From classic Southern fare like shrimp and grits to seasonal special dishes like Strawberry Jalapeño Gazpacho with Lump Crabmeat, Saltus offers something for everyone who appreciates good food in the Lowcountry.
Saltus is located in the heart of historic downtown Beaufort overlooking the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.
