Valentine’s Day Weddings At Davenport House

A Unique Savannah Wedding Opportunity.

Valentine's Day Weddings

Savannah is already well-known for its reputation as a city of romance. The city has gained quite a reputation as a destination wedding spot for couples from all over the world.  There is no shortage of great spots in Savannah for that most special of days. Locations in the downtown Historic District are especially popular. One such place, The Davenport House, is offering couples a Savannah wedding opportunity that is extra sweet, and on Valentine’s Day, no less.

The Davenport House was built in 1820 and marked the beginning of the historic preservation movement in Savannah. This breathtaking and private garden of this museum is already a popular wedding venue. Couples looking to save a little money can soon take advantage of a special offer from the museum. This year, on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday, February 14th), The Davenport House is offering 15-minute ceremonies, all day (from 9 a.m to 7 p.m.).

There are 24 time slots available, and while drop-ins the day of are welcome. Couples who are looking to have their ceremony at a specific time are advised to make reservations in advance.  Also, since this event does tend to sell out, confirmed reservations are highly recommended. The cost is a $150 donation to the museum. The donation can be made online up to 24 hours in advance.

Couples will need to bring a valid Georgia marriage license with them (which does not require a waiting period or a blood test). If one party is a Georgia resident, then a valid marriage license from any Georgia county will be accepted. If neither party is a Georgia resident, then a valid marriage license must be obtained in Chatham County (the Chatham County Courthouse is located at 133 Montgomery Street in downtown Savannah). The Davenport House also welcomes those looking for recommitment ceremonies (no marriage license necessary).

In the event of rain, all ceremonies will be held at the Kennedy Pharmacy building, which is located behind The Davenport House, at the corner of Habersham and Broughton Streets.
