A Savannah Classic.
Savannah has no shortage of new restaurants opening in Savannah right now. But sometimes, you just want to go with a classic. And that’s where Garibaldi comes in. The Italian restaurant is beautifully decorated and delightfully cozy on the inside and is located on Congress Street in Historic Downtown Savannah. Garibaldi is a great representation of Savannah itself — it can be as fancy or as casual as you want your dining experience to be. The restaurant features a large upstairs dining room that can be rented for private events, while the downstairs dining area has both a bar and banquettes for diners.
The menu at Garibaldi Café features seafood, in a variety of preparations. While specials rotate on a nearly-daily basis, the menu features items that are so beloved that one-time patrons will come back and request them from memory. The Shrimp Risotto Cake is one such dish. This succulent appetizer is a delightful twist on the Southern classic of shrimp ‘n’ grits. The risotto cake is cooked so that the edges are delightfully crispy, and is drizzled with a savory ham cream sauce and finished with plump Georgia shrimp. Another favorite is the Poached Pear Salad. Besides its namesake of wine-poached pears, the salad also features house-made goat cheese fritters.
Entrees at Garibaldi feature Italian classics such as Lasagna, Veal Picatta, and Chicken Marsala. Garibaldi also features longtime signature entrees such as Lobster Rabini, Veal Chop au Poivre and the famous Crispy Diamond-Scored Flounder. Those who are looking for a seafood fix can enjoy fresh oysters, steamed mussels, and Dungeness crab clusters. There are several delicious fresh catch specials daily.
Whether you’re looking for a full-on, five-course meal, or just an appetizer and a cocktail, there is no better place to sit and soak in the atmosphere of Historic Downtown Savannah.
